“Prenatal care” took on a different meaning when I decided to DIY pregnancy.
I didn’t get ultrasounds or most of the tests that are normally prescribed.
I continued to nourish my body, selectively monitored what I wanted to monitor, and prepared for birth with exercise and intentional positioning.
Instead of attending hospital propaganda “birth classes,” I attended a local Village Prenatal gathering. This traditional space allowed me to voice my birth vision aloud to witnesses, and I believe this was instrumental to my preparation.
